FOUNDATIONS OF A UNIEYAA (NEUROCORTICAL) EDUCATION.
The pedagogical concepts governing the teaching System of our OOYAA (Planet) differ greatly from those used by Earthmen, although you should not be surprised if we reveal to you that many of their conceptual bases have been discovered by the neuropsychiatrists of the Earth, without your having managed to date to explain them other than in a rudimentary and anarchic way.
This is the case with the neurophysiological concept of UNNIOOGOIA (CONDITIONED REFLEXES). Known to us for many years, it has governed its rational application in the education of the child with a success that explains the difference in social structure between UMMO and the Earthly Social Network.
In your case, and although the Russian scientist Pavlov extensively developed the analysis of this type of nervous mechanism, it is rare to find among you, outside medical professionals or people trained in the field of Psychology, anyone who, when asked about the mechanism of the Conditioned Reflex, gives a coherent answer, even supposing that he knows the meaning of the word.
In case there is anyone among you who has not had the opportunity to assimilate this concept, we shall explain it briefly with a simple example. In a future Report we may be more explicit, describing the nervous process in more detail.
Imagine a little girl who is given a new black plush doll. Such a toy STIMULATES THE DESIRE TO PLAY. We shall therefore call the Doll the CONDITIONED STIMULUS.
We shall then see how the little UUYIE (GIRL) spends a delightful afternoon absorbed in her playful fantasies. The attraction and fascination aroused by the doll is something we consider natural, and it has its own psychophysiological explanation.
When the girl is most engrossed in her toy, let us place a small explosive charge, harmless of course, in the room, and set it off. Logically the acoustic stimulus will cause a strong nervous Shock, Terror. This response of fear or terror we shall call the CONDITIONED RESPONSE to the EXPLOSION or else the UNCONDITIONED RESPONSE to the doll. It is clear so far that, as regards the girl being in the presence of the stimulus of the DOLL, the terror will or will not occur independently of this toy, and subordinated solely to the STIMULUS EXPLOSION.
So far everything is normal. Two different stimuli: Doll and firecracker give rise to logical responses: Play and terrified crying.
But continue the Experiment. During the following days, each time you give the doll to the girl, and at the very instant her little hands come into contact with it, set off a firecracker. The RESPONSE of crying from fear will continue to be provoked.
After repeating the experiment a few times, repeatedly presenting the CONDITIONED STIMULUS (that is, the Toy) and the UNCONDITIONED STIMULUS (that is: the explosion), let us suppress the latter. That is: Let us give the girl the black plush doll.
We shall observe a curious reaction. The little girl, on seeing that toy, will react by crying in terror. Her reflex arcs will become associated in such a way that an inappropriate RESPONSE to the STIMULUS is provoked.
From now on, each time we show the doll to the female subject of our experiment, she will experience the same reaction that was provoked in her by the explosion. What is more: a chain of conditioned reflexes may have been produced, and the girl may associate stimuli such as any piece of black plush, or even the colour black itself, with the response CRYING.
Perhaps the mother, who may not know the root of her daughter's reactions, will be puzzled to see her crying inappropriately in front of a plush cushion, without suspecting the physiological mechanism at work behind this strange behaviour.
All the behaviour of man is permeated with conditioned reactions. When you type, when we read, when we dress mechanically while thinking about other things, when we find our way in our daily walks through the streets, this physiological phenomenon is produced thousands of times; without it man would be a totally different being, incapable of developing his personality.
But you Earthmen have not known how to take advantage of its lessons. When you yourselves, thanks to Ivan Pavlov, came to be aware of these reflex mechanisms, you fanatically created a whole Doctrine which you call REFLEXOLOGY, which tends to want to explain all the behaviour of man by CONDITIONED REFLEXES. With overflowing enthusiasm you thought that, thanks to this discovery, you could explain the Divine and the Human, just as the naive scientists of the end of the Earthly 19th Century, on discovering Electricity, believed that with this concept they could explain even what they called the myth of God.
And as usual, in contrast to that inordinate importance given to the Concept of Reflexes, we later observe in you the strangest indifference towards its applications.
It is surprising to see how you talk about the importance of good and bad habits, perhaps unaware that their basis is precisely Reflexes. And that you will never bring the Education of Society to a happy conclusion by creating those habits if you are ignorant of their intimate mechanisms, just as an aircraft mechanic will never be able to repair the rotor of a Turbine if he does not know its operating principles.
We see only one solution for you in this vicious circle into which the Earthly Social Network has entered: to undertake urgently a worldwide programme of Child Education, using the means offered by knowledge of the psychophysiological laws of Teaching through the scientific formation of habits, using a technique similar to the one we employ in our UNAWO UI (Teaching Centres), called AARUNNIOGOIA (It can be translated as TEACHING BY MEANS OF CONDITIONED REFLEXES).
From earliest infancy, parents on our Planet undertake a basic programme of Education of the UUGEE or UUYIE (BOY or GIRL).
First of all we must warn you of something that will surely scandalize certain people among you with little Education.
We try to conform all our Conduct to what we call UAA (Moral Law). We believe with certainty in WOA (GOD or GENERATOR) and we know that his divine UMMOWOA became incarnate as Jesus Christ did among You, offering us wise norms which, conforming to Natural Law, make the development of Society on UMMO viable.
But our Concept of Morality, while bearing an extraordinary resemblance to that of present-day Christianity, and within it to the one postulated by the Moralists of the Roman Catholic Church, has a different structure, much more flexible and at the same time more rigid; simply because:
First: Our WOALAOLOO (Theologians) Consider that Morality evolves as Society develops.
Second: With certain delicate limitations, the MORAL NORMS OF THE INDIVIDUAL are a function of his Neurocerebral and physiological structure. So that the moral obligations and rights of each subject vary within certain limits, depending on his psychological personality.
We have not yet reached the ideal of every man of UMMO knowing with certainty what conduct he should follow in each specific case and in each psychological state. But we approach the ideal when, from early childhood, we assess his mental capacity and introject into him alone the scope of that Moral code which is adapted to a standard brain bearing the greatest analogy to his own.
Whereas you evolve Morality and dictate collective norms for a Social group of a Country or even of a Region, we focus still more on the intimate problems of the Individual, freeing him from being enslaved to Standard norms of Conduct which, for his mentality and circumstances, he could not fulfil, sparing him that range of complexes that arise among you when Society pharisaically points its finger at whoever does not comply with those Standard norms.
Do not of course confuse this respect for the Individual with amorality, or moral licence, into which you fall precisely by forcing others to follow laws to which they may not be able to adapt. On the contrary, those norms, different for each person and which mean that what is a Transgression for one is not so for his brother, are rigid and always force each person to respect the rights of his brothers.
In the light, then, of these principles, and once the faculties of each infant have been assessed as we have explained, parents will be able, with the help of the advice given them by our Network of XANMOO AYUBAA (COMPUTERS OR NUCLEAR BRAINS), to get round the many problems of the child's Education.
We wish to warn you of a few things beforehand. Fertilization and gestation of the Human Being outside the maternal Womb have been perfectly feasible on UMMO for many years. But we consider that process, which you would call “IN VITRO” Gestation, unnatural and an attack on the designs of WOA, so that only in pathological cases of the Mother is this unnatural phase of human life permitted.
Furthermore: At about eight months of foetal life, the new Being could be operated on with neurosurgical techniques and, by acting on its neurocortical structure and its spinal cord, its personality could be changed completely, modifying its psychological constants, in particular its intelligence quotient or intelligence.
When this possibility was developed on our Planet, we believed, full of intoxicating euphoria, that at last we had reached the longed-for goal. That at last man had freed himself from his age-old mental defects, that independently of WOA we could REGENERATE another Species. We had two Ways of doing so. Control of the genetic code and subsequent modifications of the already formed cerebral cortex apparently made feasible that dream cherished throughout our History, ever since the brutal vivisection experiments of the Era of IE 456 opened up future prospects for that possibility.
The Experiments began immediately (the atoms of the inert gas KRYPTON that make up the third factor of Man, that is the OEMBUUAW, had not yet been discovered).
Several adult criminals and many children were subjected to deep operations to modify the Neuronal Network of the Brain. We shall explain briefly the Technique employed:
First of all, a three-dimensional image of the existing cortical structure was obtained, using the UULWAAGAA Technique. The UNNIEAOEMII WIOA (Specialists in the Cerebral Cortex) then analysed the complex neuronal network, pointing out the presence of congenital irregularities.
Once the Network had been studied, a mathematical model of an improved Network was designed, which in turn is represented by a second equiform model of the cortex. That is: a kind of scale model made of various alloys, each of which represents one of the organic compounds that make up our brain: Thus the myelin of the neurons is represented in that 144:1 scale model by a Chromium alloy.
The surgical operation can now be carried out (We call it that incorrectly for want of a correct translation).
But before continuing we need to make a further clarification. Many years earlier we had discovered two techniques essential to this process. One of them succeeded in inducing a process of necrosis (CELL DEATH) in healthy organic tissue, localizing this traumatizing action in a small area of the tissue with such precision that a single cell can be destroyed without in any way affecting those surrounding it.
This effect can be achieved at a distance and without any physical object penetrating the Tissue. A double beam of radiation located in the spectrum that you call GAMMA RAYS is used.
One can thus reach, for example, the squamous Epithelium of the Oesophagus and destroy one of its cells with complete precision, while the operator watches the process through his UULWAAGAA screen (An apparatus similar to Earthly Radioscopic equipment).
The residues of the destruction are immediately reabsorbed, more or less rapidly depending on the type of tissue operated on and other factors.
Parallel to this technique, we can transform the Cell Nucleus of any tissue in various ways. That is, we can generate genuine ARTIFICIAL ATYPICAL CELLS (Something like an artificial cancer). Of course there would be no point, except for purposes of Study, in generating diseased tissues.
What is really achieved in practice is to change the nature of a cell. Imagine, for example, a zone made up of FIBROBLASTS, Cells of the connective Tissue. Well then: by acting on the chromosomes of the nucleus it is possible to transform one or thousands of cells of this type into Nerve Cells, for example, that is NEURONS, whose structure is totally different.
Imagine, then, the Patient who is to undergo this change of his Cortex. Millions of the cells of his brain must be necrosed, that is: destroyed, and millions of new ones must be generated, all according to a plan of a studied Network. A specialist might need millions of years to accomplish this operation.
The equipment in charge of this is automatic, and is controlled by the metal Model we have described. Something like a pantograph used by Earthly draughtsmen to reproduce Plans or drawings to scale. Of course the real process is much more complex, for the billions of points in three-dimensional coordinates have previously been recorded in a Titanium memory unit, encoding their position and nature. (Each point represents an organic molecule).
(You may suppose that these techniques described are the ones that allow us an effective therapy of any diseased tissue). Yet the failure was staggering as regards the transformation of the human brain. Let us see why:
FAILURE OF THE TRIALS CONCERNING NEUROCORTICAL TRANSFORMATION.
We pointed out in our previous report that the spectacular results obtained at first in attempting to modify the UNIEYAA (CEREBRAL) structure, by necrosing certain cells and transforming others until the encephalon of man was completely transformed, constituted a true revolution on our Planet.
It was in the year 5722 of the second Time (UMMO years) that ORIAAU 6 son of ORIAAU 5 began his experiments with a whole galaxy of Neurophysiologists, using as subjects of his tests 78 adult criminals and 180 children of both sexes classified as EDDIO UNNIAXII (MENTALLY RETARDED).
The operation was carried out in closed chambers in which rigorous control of physical stimuli and environmental conditions was maintained.
Sound level: zero. Light radiation: zero. Temperature, atmospheric pressure, ultraviolet radiation, chemical composition of the air, degree of humidity and ozonization as well as ionization varied according to the metabolism of the subject, who was kept in a state of absolute unconsciousness induced by the very process of the operation; the cranial cavity remained intact during the time that the transformation of the neurocortical structure lasted.
The first apparent results were truly spectacular. All the subjects, once the process of restructuring their brain was concluded, came out of the hermetic chamber where they had been shut up for some 1140 UIW (one UIW is equivalent to about 3.1 minutes), fed by means of UAMIIOWOBO (ARTERIAL FEEDING), like adults who had just emerged from the mother's womb.
All the elements accumulated in memory during their lives had either been completely erased by the operation or passed to BUUAWAM IESEE OA (SUBCONSCIOUS) levels (EXCEPT for 7 YIE and 4 GEE who kept memories at the conscious level, as we shall indicate later).
The evident change of personality was perfectly recordable. The adults could remain standing, which showed that certain reflex movements had been preserved. But many other reflex mechanisms were completely abolished. (The weak sucking and grasping reflexes, etc., which are still preserved in the adult individual as a Relic of infant stages, disappeared).
On the other hand, new forms of reactions appeared, which we call UNNIOOOAYUU XE (Earthly psychologists call them PRIMARY CIRCULAR REACTIONS), by which, if a child in the suckling period has performed an act that gives him pleasure, he will repeat it indefinitely (The act of sucking his thumb, The act of throwing a thing that produces a harmonious sound for the infant).
A reflex of this type that turned out to be common to all those subjects was gently stroking their own face, chest and breasts. Almost all of them felt light stimuli strongly, which made it necessary to provide them with UULAXBOIYU (At that time, when ocular aberrations had not yet been controlled directly, the long-sighted and short-sighted were provided with artificial lenses applied by spraying a transparent substance onto the eyeball itself. On crystallizing and hardening, this formed a soluble film adapted to the cornea, similar to the micro-lenses you use on earth. This plastic substance, which we call BIAGOO DOAWAA, has the property of varying its opacity with light. If you had such a product, you could apply it to your sunglasses.)
At first the subjects were able to perceive only dissociated images, in which shapes and colours were not integrated into a perfect whole. Vision, moreover, was fixed in a single plane. A mountain situated many KOOAE away seemed to them as close as their own hand.
Their modes of behaviour revealed the appearance of the first phases of sensorimotor intelligence. They babbled and cried like real children.
As you see, the Process began as if those beings had been born a few hours earlier. Needless to say, they did not in the least recognize those who for years had been their relatives and friends. Such behaviour could not even be likened to that of patients with lacunar AMNESIA or amnesia of Evocation.
That profound mental change was, however, to be expected. It constituted a necessary phase in the renewal of the individual, as was later shown. Indeed: those new CHILDREN developed much more rapidly than genuinely infant individuals. The period of education lasted 15 per cent of that required by a normal child, and a few (EARTH) months were enough for the subjects to return to the adult phase.
The psychophysiological tests to which they had been subjected when they came out of the chambers had already revealed a very profound transformation in their mental level and capacity. The progress made during their re-education gave astonishing results. A criminal, a mental defective who had been condemned to perpetual nakedness for the crime of homicide, after undergoing the trial of transformation and re-education became a brilliant specialist in OOLGA WAAM (COSMOPHYSICS) who has gone down in History under the name of UROO 866 son of UROO 865, for his calculations concerning the composition of the GIAXAA EDAAU nebulae. The unhappy end of this man was no less unfortunate than that of the other subjects of that ill-fated trial.
For many UMMO years, these people lived an authentic new life. Their personality, with which went tastes, aptitudes, instinctive tendencies and ways of thinking, was radically different from that which had constituted their previous mental life. Only certain vegetative reactions reminded those who had lived with them of their former characteristics. For their part, the subjects of the operation did not in the least remember their past lives. Affection towards loved ones was completely neutralized. Some had to make real intellectual efforts to adapt to family life with their wives or parents. Those who had children confessed that they did not observe the slightest emotional reaction towards them, and in several cases the breakdown of marital situations, carefully reconstructed by psychologists and religious ministers, was inevitable after strong spiritual tensions arose between the two members of the OMGEEYIE. Conjugal quarrels, which are very rare on UMMO since spouses are carefully selected, began to arise in the cases mentioned with such frequency that such measures became inevitable.
There were curious cases, such as those of 11 subjects of both sexes who, despite the profound transformation undergone in their SELF, remembered previous experiences. A young man of 27 lived during that time with a double personality (We point out to you that on UMMO cases of splitting of the Personality, a syndrome more frequent on the Planet Earth, were unknown until then), although there are patients there with EDDIO NAAU (Similar to Schizophrenia), an illness in which the dissociation and disintegration of the Personality are evident.
Those new men attained a pre-eminent social position in a very short time, standing out as Technicians, Thinkers and pure scientists. Many of them promised a marvellous future of intellectual fertility. Some, such as ESIURAA 499 Son of ESIURAA 498, who had become a Neurophysiologist, began a cycle of research on Neurocortical Transformations, at the same time carrying out a thorough study of his own case.
But a terrible fate awaited those perfected beings. Many years had to pass until, in the year 1336 of the Third Time, a satisfactory explanation of what happened was arrived at:
Indeed: It was in one of the transformed women, UROO 38 daughter of UROO 35, who after short studies had reached the level of Superior of WADOOXOIA (INFORMATION TRAFFIC) in the AASEE (COLONY) UDIOO AWEE, that the terrible ODAWAA (Collapse or Decline) occurred for the first time. One night her subordinates found her with a vacant stare, operating the AASNEUIDAA (CERTAIN CONTROL EQUIPMENT) mechanically as if she were a robot. She docilely obeyed the orders given to her. Her intellectual level remained intact, but only the will of others was capable of making use of it. A true living dead woman. An authentic machine incapable of the most urgent volitions, which even for the most elementary non-reflex physiological needs had to be controlled from outside.
One after another, Those women and men, boys and girls, fell into the fateful and mysterious mental trauma. The crises began as if at random, with no visible cause or temporal law relating the dates of cerebral transformation to their horrible falls. Not a single one could escape this hallucinating fate.
In the (UMMO) year 1336 of the III T, a researcher: GAAA 9 son of GAAA 6 succeeded in demonstrating the origin of that psychic trauma: It was the total disintegration of the Network of DIIUYAA (KRYPTON) atoms that make up the Human Factor OEMBUUAW. In this way the cerebral Cortex remained disconnected from BUUAWAA (SPIRIT OR SOUL), and the human body was governed from then on by a blind determinism.
